Bus: How to pay the bus fare
-The buses that arrive and depart within Mine city accept cash, ticket purchased in advance, or prepaid bus cards (bus pass will be referred to later).
-Get on the bus from the door in the middle and pick up a numbered paper from the dispenser on the right side of the step. And then find the same number and the price on the electric fare table in front. Prepare the exact amount and put it into the box next to the driver when you get off. Use the exchange machine built in the box if you do not have the exact amount.
-Bus ticket and prepaid bus cards are available at some vending machines and the bus terminals including our tourist information center. We sell ¥1,000 and ¥3,000 prepaid bus cards, and equivalent to ¥1,100 and ¥3,360 respectively. It means you get a ¥100 or ¥360 discount. Please add the deficient amount with cash.
Car
Every tourist site has a parking lot. As for the public ones, 1st and 2nd parking lots near Akiyoshidō cave cost ￥400/day and others are free of charge. As for car rental service, we recommend you to find the place around Shin-Yamaguchi (新山口) station or Yamaguchi Ube Airport.
Taxi
Taxi is very convenient since the tourist sites are scattered all over the city and the number of buses is limited. Few taxis stay at the tourist information center and Kurotani entrance of Akiyoshidō. Please ask the counter if there is no taxi around.
ATM
We are sorry that there are no ATMs in the tourist area. Please prepare cash. For those who drive, it takes 5-10 min to the nearest three.

Within Mine city
The tourist sites are categorized into three depending on the location. 1. Akiyoshidō cave & Akiyoshidai observation deck area which is within walking distance from the bus terminal, 2. Northern Akiyoshidai area which includes Taishodō cave , Kagekiyodō cave , Safari Land , and others, and 3. Others that are Beppu Benten Pond , Ofuku area, Ōmine area including Mine Sta.
We recommend you to plan based on the following timetables in advance since there are few buses in all lines.
Akiyoshidō⇔Akiyoshidai
① Loop bus (weekends and holidays only)
The loop bus runs from Akiyoshidō bus terminal near the main entrance of the cave and drops by the other side of the cave, Kurotani entrance and then, Akiyoshidai. The observation deck, Karstar, and Akiyoshidai Museum of Natural History are all near from Akiyoshidai bus stop.

② Karst Taxi (minibus) (Weekdays from Apr. to Nov.)
Karst Taxi, a minibus or a shared van stops more places aside from the mentioned above. The elevator entrance is included in the loop and some buses go to Taishodo, Kagekiyodo, and Safari Land. Find a green stop.
